Case Study
Town Hall
An oversized shawl is wrapped around the building of the new town hall in Lochem. At least that’s how the facade cladding makes it appear. This is because the Dutch municipality southwest of Hengelo merged with its neighbouring town of Gorssel and a larger town hall was needed. The metal shawl is meant as a gesture of connecting the residents with politics. As the new building’s centre and base of the political administration, the town hall stands for a transparent democracy. Instead of delineating individual workstations, the space features areas that can be used for focused work, collaborations or administration, as needed.
